Enjoyable Decaf

We enjoyed both The Peru and the Zero Decaf. For us the Peru was preferred being a little sweeter and more rounded. When we made it just a little stronger it was very similar in flavour to our favourite caffeinated blend.
We found that the flavour of Zero grew on us but will go back to Peru.

over roasted

While the flavour is great at the bean level there is a persistent taste of glory jeans / star bucks. The espresso roast this company do is over roasted and leaves you with a terrible after taste. Unfortunately it was like this for two espresso roasts and the filter roast was the only usable one for espresso as it wasn't roasted to an inch of it's life.

We roast everything to an industry based 'Medium Roast', absolutely no where near a dark italian style roast. All decaf in the world presents visually 20-30% darker due to the decaffeination process when roasted to the exact same temperature. This was observed when we did the Decaf Project with James Hoffmann, comparing a caffeinated farms coffee, then the same coffee that had been decaffeinated. Nevertheless, I think you just need super light roasted beans, after your comment we made an espresso with the exact Filter roast you purchased, and it tasted like Grapefruit/Lemon Juice, the whole team hated it and found the acidity confronting. I have a feeling you may need to look at your brew recipe, not one person in the roastery is getting the negative aftertaste you speak of and we have a Q Grader here.
